The SockMine

We were lucky enough to be sent a wide range of their wares, covering a multitude of applications.  We’ve also learned they’re made by Elves!

Long ago, in the textile heartlands of Nottinghamshire, there was a picturesque factory called Roy Lowe and Sons. It was run by Roy and his two sons, Tim and Martin. It was a happy factory and they made the best socks in the land until one day, an evil economic spell was cast that ground the proud machines to a halt.

Before you shell out cash on your next pair, give these guys a try.  You’ll be keeping an Elf in full-time employment!…

The factory closed down. Myths about the abandoned factory floated on the wind around the county. Some people believed it was full of elves who still produced socks; others even claimed to have seen elves running out to do a cob run on Friday mornings. Myth grew into legend and things that should never have been forgotten fell out of memory.

Until one day, a son of the third generation, Ben, a golden child with flecks of silver in his curly hair, was sweeping the factory floor when he came across what turned out to be a great mine shaft. With a head full of adventure and a heart full of valour, he descended and found a mine full of elves who were proudly knitting the finest technical socks in the land. This gave Ben a marvelous idea. A treaty was formed with the elves and on this fateful day the SockMine was born!

Whether it’s running, training, cycling, horse riding, skiing, motorcycling or even for hard working feet, the guys at The SockMine have something to suit.

Technical Diagrams

On each product you view, you will see a technical diagram unique to the sock. This will show you the main technical benefits that are knitted in to improve the fit, comfort, durability and control. Whether you suffer from blisters, cold feet, rubbing or poor support our technical diagrams will make sure you find the perfect sock to solve your nightmares. Technical benefits may include ankle and Achilles protection, extra padding, reinforced heels and toes and flex lines to prevent bunching.

Difference between Ski and Snowboard Socks

We recognise that skiers and snowboarders want different things from their socks and move in different ways, therefore we have created Ultimate Skiing socks and Ulitmate Snowboarding socks. Our skiing socks have extra padding around the ankle and shin area for the repetitive movements made on the slopes. However our snowboarding socks have extra padding on top of the foot for comfort and protection from binding. Padding is also reinforced in the heel and toe areas once again for durability and comfort due to repetitive movements of snowboarders.

Improved sizing

We realise that sizing is a big issue when it comes to finding the perfect pair of socks. Poor sizing can cause blisters, bunching and rubbing – all things we want to be avoid.

We have recently minimised our size gap from a two size, size gap to a one and a half size gap. This has improved the fit of the socks and given a more varied selection of sizes. We have had great feedback on conquering blister problems due to less bunching and movement and consequently rubbing when exercising.

With cycling becoming ever more popular, sourcing good quality kit is essential.  The SockMine offers a great selection of predominately summer weight socks.

Again, made to their exacting standards everything about them screams quality.  The point I’m really impressed with is that they wash exceptionally well.  Now… you might think this a rather odd point to mention, however, I’ve spent considerable sums of money on a basic item such as a sock.  Once washed they’ve never quite felt the same again, however The SockMine products do seem to wear and wash exceptionally well.
